Velocity Modelling

This new service provides the first simple capability for matching the traditional stacking velocity analyses present usually in the form of 'velocity boxes' on the top of stacked and migrated sections, to the domain of migration. Standard stacking velocity analysis even after DMO correction produces velocities which are inappropriate for either time-migration or depth-migration. VBDM corrects these in place to provide the appropriately migrated velocity field ready for consistent time or depth migration, using innovative ray-tracing technology, a highly cost-effective alternative to standard seismic methods based on the data itself. The resulting migrated velocities are suitable for direct vertical depth conversion.
